Electronic confinement in quantum dots of twisted bilayer graphene

چکیده
Electronic properties of quantum dots (QDs) depend sensitively on their parent materials. Therefore, confined electronic states in graphene QDs (GQDs) monolayer and Bernal-stacked bilayer are quite different. Twisted (TBG) is distinct from because the new degree freedom: twist angle. In past few years, numerous efforts have been made to realize GQDs achieved great success. Thus far, however, strategies for realizing TBG elusive. Here, we demonstrate a general approach fabricating stationary by introducing nanoscale p-n junctions with sharp boundaries TBG. We verify confinement low-energy massless Dirac fermions via whispering-gallery modes Unexpectedly, around van Hove singularities also strongly modified GQDs. Such feature has never reported attributed spatial variation interlayer coupling induced

Electronic excited states in bilayer graphene double quantum dots.
We report tunneling spectroscopy experiments on a bilayer graphene double quantum dot device that can be tuned by all-graphene lateral gates. The diameter of the two quantum dots are around 50 nm and the constrictions acting as tunneling barriers are 30 nm in width. The double quantum dot features additional energies on the order of 20 meV. Charge stability diagrams allow us to study the tunabl...
متن کاملQuantum Hall effect in twisted bilayer graphene.
We address the quantum Hall behavior in twisted bilayer graphene transferred from the C face of SiC. The measured Hall conductivity exhibits the same plateau values as for a commensurate Bernal bilayer. This implies that the eightfold degeneracy of the zero energy mode is topologically protected despite rotational disorder as recently predicted. In addition, an anomaly appears. The densities at...

متن کاملBroken-Symmetry Quantum Hall States in Twisted Bilayer Graphene
Twisted bilayer graphene offers a unique bilayer two-dimensional-electron system where the layer separation is only in sub-nanometer scale. Unlike Bernal-stacked bilayer, the layer degree of freedom is disentangled from spin and valley, providing eight-fold degeneracy in the low energy states. We have investigated broken-symmetry quantum Hall (QH) states and their transitions due to the interpl...
